Summary – Director, Business Development:

The Director of Business Development will

  1. Lead, coach, and mentor an established sales team, spot new growth opportunities, determine new markets, and build the company’s exposure and brand.
  2. Focus on establishing business analytics and overseeing sales and business development for a specific line of business.
  3. Report to Vice President Sales & Marketing

Duties:

  • Lead the process of establishing and improving analytical databases
  • Work with third parties to obtain data for developing business cases and business plans
  • Complete analytics on marketing data by utilizing data lakes
  • Champion business development efforts of new and existing clients by coaching and mentoring the sales team
  • Identify new and expanding markets, either through acquisitions or internal development
  • Oversee departmental budget and P&L responsibilities
  • Facilitate and perform customer maintenance of 300+ regular customers
  • Lead sales, marketing, customer service, and product management teams (3 Territory Managers, 4 Customer Service, 2 Product Managers, 1 Marketing Specialist)
  • Collaborate with other departments to grow sales for the organization
  • Other duties as directed by management

Travel

Travel up to 50% first six months of employment, 25% thereafter (primarily domestic travel)

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree(required), advanced degree preferred
  2. At least five years in a similar business development senior-level leadership position
  3. Experience overseeing sales professionals, including a successful track record of developing staff
  4. At least five years of experience working with business analytics tools, including the utilization of data lakes
  5. Experience performing business development within a consumer products related industry, ideally in agriculture, research, animal, feed or food industries
  6. Business development experience should include extensive experience with developing business plans and business cases
  7. Experience contributing to and understanding P&L
  8. Microsoft Office tools

Skills preferred but NOT required:

  1. Power BI or Tableau
  2. Salesforce

 Compensation:

Competitive salary: Base ($170K to $175K) plus benefits from day one of employment, 30% bonus program, and 20% long-term incentive program!
