The Director Human Resources Food Manufacturing will support a unionized manufacturing operation with approximately 300 employees in the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area. You will receive a competitive salary, benefits and relocation assistance are available for this role.

The Director Human Resources Food Manufacturing will build strategic organizational capability across the business. You will collaborate with plant business leaders and Human Resources COEs to support and lead site labor and employee relations, recruitment, talent management, culture, and the facilitation of various HR programs. You will report to the Senior Human Resources Director of Manufacturing with a strong dotted line to the Senior Plant Director. You will lead through collaboration and proximity and will serve as an ambassador for the business and be the point-of-contact for all plant associates and leaders.

Director Human Resources, Food Manufacturing Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and coaching to mitigate risk for the company and ensure employee rights.
  • Support employee engagement related initiatives, assess culture and enhance overall employee experience and business performance.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, developing best practices and finding solutions.
  • Provide clear leadership by demonstrating an understanding of business performance, strategy, trends and needs.
  • Drive talent pipeline by forecasting and planning site needs to align with business strategy.
  • Lead annual HR Cycle for the plant, (Objective Setting, Talent Review, Mid-Year, Talent Development Plans, Annual Salary Review, etc.)

 Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, required. Master’s degree in Business, HR Industrial Relations, or related field is preferred. A SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification is also preferred.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible HR experience supporting diverse client groups, and at least 5+ years within an industrial environment, required. At least 5+ years of exempt level / HR Leadership experience is required.
  • 5+ years of HR experience within a unionized environment, required.
  • Computer proficiency especially in MS Office products (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point). Prior experience with Ceridian Dayforce is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and can travel and work off-hours and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Strong coaching skills and experience successfully leading, developing, and building high-performing teams.
  • Influential and have experience building and leveraging strong relationships and using influence and persuasion to inspire diverse teams and drive results.
  • Agile and possess the ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to fast-changing business needs.
  • A leader who leads with respect, confidence, and managerial courage in challenging environments.
  • A visionary and can partner with leadership to develop and execute a long-term strategic plan for the plant.
  • Strong HR acumen and possess a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of Labor Relations and HR principles, policies, processes, and technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to build quantifiable metrics, while analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Proven ability to manage complex employee relations & labor relations matters, including investigations, grievances, and ethics complaints.
