Thanksgiving Note 2019
Thanksgiving – my favorite holiday of the year. It encourages all of us to set aside our differences, and to take the time to gather together with our families. It’s when we pause for a moment to reflect on how much we have to be grateful for.
I want to take this time to thank each and every person that has entered and touched my life. My world is so much better with you as a part of it. I am deeply grateful to you and appreciate you.
And of course, what would Thanksgiving gratitude be without the traditional feast?
Amongst my family and friends, Thanksgiving dinner is not served until late afternoon at the earliest, and sometimes not until 6:00 PM or later. That leaves a whole day of waiting for the big event.
Apparently a lot of other people are in the same situation. All Thanksgiving morning a parade of my friends and neighbors walk by my house to get some much-needed fresh air, a break from whatever is going on at home, stretch their legs, and grab a cuppa from one of the many nearby coffee shops.
More than a decade ago, it occurred to me that instead of going to a coffee shop, my friends could stop by my house for coffee, a light bite to eat to tide them over until dinner time, a relaxing visit and continue on their way. To my delight, Thanksgiving Brunch at Connie’s House is now a tradition.
This year, in a slight departure from tradition, the brunch menu will include Spanish Tortilla. And I’m taking my friend Dana’s Secret Ingredient Cranberry Sauce over to my nephew Ben’s house for turkey dinner.
Some of my Thanksgiving brunch bunch.
Whatever holiday traditions you embrace,
I wish a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
